Introduction

In the 1980s,
The international carpet industry started a production innovation called the "Renaissance."
Several explorers who love carpet culture have returned to the traditional way of making carpets:
hand-knotted weaving, natural dyeing, and high-quality hand-spun woolen yarn.

Their efforts have revived the ancient carpet-making craftsmanship
and have also met the needs of the high-end market.

However, very few re-created works combine both the form and spirit of the "classical Chinese" carpet,
which is recognized as one of the most exquisite carpets in the world.
The Textile Museum in Washington was one of the first attempts to reproduce classical Chinese carpets.
Also, some western companies tried and failed to achieve the desired results.

Caravan Classics specializes in restoring and re-creating classical Chinese carpets
using 100% natural dyes and traditional handicrafts.

Caravan Classics Dyeing & Weaving Studio

Also known as Banshan Dyeing & Weaving, it began to re-create ancient Chinese carpets with traditional craftsmanship in 1999.
Up to now, we've reproduced nearly a hundred classical Chinese carpets from the 16th to 19th centuries, most of the original pieces are still preserved in Western museums and private collections. These re-created works were exhibited at Ming House in California, USA (formerly the Classical Chinese Furniture Museum) in 2007 and the National Museum of China in 2012.

We also apply natural dyeing to clothing and home decor and customize curtains and costumes for performing institutes in China and abroad.
In cooperation with educational institutions, we offer dyeing and weaving courses to pass on the spiritual connotation of traditional handicrafts.
Youth education will be a primary direction for the inheritance and development of traditional crafts in the future.
