Lotuses and Peonies
5 feet×8 feet
Re-created in 2006 by CC. The original piece comes from the Kangxi Period.
The deep-blue scrolling stems in the brown field show graceful posture,
and the sky-blue outlines make the lotuses and peonies seem ready to come out.
The straight-lined Hui border forms a sharp contrast with the primary border,
which contains scattered vine & grass patterns, and it perfectly echos the field,
creating different levels. In accordance with the court carpet-making tradition,
hand-spun yarn was used, and the warp utilized plied silk which is luxurious.
